ROSARY MEDITATIONS FOR THE JOYFUL MYSTERIES
The First Joyful Mystery: The Annunciation
Let us contemplate in this mystery how the angel Gabriel saluted our Blessed Lady with the title “full of grace” and declared unto her the incarnation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through the intercession of Mary, may we obtain the virtue of humility in imitation of our Lord who emptied himself in taking the form of a servant.
The Second Joyful Mystery: The Visitation
Let us contemplate in this mystery how the Blessed Virgin Mary, understanding from the angel that her cousin Elizabeth had conceived, went with haste into the mountains of Judea to visit her, and remained with her three months. Through the intercession of Mary, may we obtain the grace of perfect charity toward our neighbor.
The Third Joyful Mystery: The Nativity
Let us contemplate in this mystery how the Blessed Virgin Mary, when the time of her delivery had come, brought forth the Redeemer, Christ Jesus, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for Him in the inns at Bethlehem. May we detach ourselves of worldly things in imitations of Jesus who was born in a stable for our sake.
The Fourth Joyful Mystery: The Presentation
Let us contemplate in this mystery how the Blessed Virgin Mary, on the day of her purification, presented the Child Jesus in the Temple, where holy Simeon, giving thanks to God with great devotion, received Him into his arms. May we, like Mary who was submissive to the Jewish law, cultivate the virtue of obedience.
The Fifth Joyful Mystery: The Finding in the Temple
Let us contemplate in this mystery how the Blessed Virgin Mary and her holy spouse Joseph, looked for Jesus for three days, finally finding him in the Temple among the teachers. May we more devoutly look for Jesus and never let sin separate us from him.
